Getting Started On Pinterest – Our Story

And how we got things off to a good start?

I first learned about Pinterest via Google Analytics. I look at our traffic stats pretty faithfully, usually every day. So in the fall of 2011, when I started to notice links from Pinterest, I got interested. At first it was like any other random website – I was like,

that’s nice, but whatever”

Then the traffic built more and more, and I looked into Pinterest to see why we were getting such good traffic. Here is the Pinterest Traffic to our primary ecommerce site from November through December 2011:

I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I could easily see that Pinterest was (probably) going to become the biggest traffic source for us after Google (organic) Search and Facebook.

And we hadn’t even set up a profile in Pinterest yet, or figured out how to drive traffic, or created a marketing plan. So, in December of 2011 I got crackin. We did a ton of research, I set up a user profile, and we started building our Pinterest presence.
