Pinterest Initial Public Grand Opening

Pinterest initial public grand opening

Forget Pinterest‘s IPO for a minute and celebrate a milestone with them – a moment we’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived. I call it Pinterest’s

Initial Public Grand Openning”

Back in March I first wrote about this idea – and how Pinterest might use this opportunity at a strategic time to ensure their amazing growth curve keeps heading in the right direction.

Of course they won’t say it, but I’d guess they opened the flood gates at this time (pure speculation) because Summer is probably a low spot in their annual traffic pattern (they only have 2 years of information to go by, but still) so lifting the barrier to entry now – while they can (hope) to manage the flood of new users is probably their best strategy. Again, all of that is just my speculation.

Regardless of the strategy involved – now Pinterest is much simpler to access – and the days of ‘invitation only beta’ are over. Their user base is going to skyrocket even faster now – and my prediction…

Twitter is toast.

Pinterest will explode into the 3rd spot behind Facebook & Youtube. I guarantee it. Look at the standings:

Pinterest could use the boost in new users to catapult past Twitter.

What an amazing ride they’ve had!

  1. It has certainly be an impressive journey to get to their current scale in such a short time.

By the way, I think looking just at ‘Visits for the week’ probably under-represents Twitter because a lot of users accessTwitter via 3rd-party applications rather than via the Twitter.com site.
